Brock Lesnar is still here, and honestly I have mixed feelings about it.
On one hand, I’m happy Brock has not retired yet. I grew up watching Brock Lesnar be one of the most dangerous stars in wrestling. When Brock shows up it still feels big. He does not have to talk much. He does not have to be on TV every week. His name alone brings attention.
But on the other hand, the way this story is playing out with Oba Femi feels a little off to me.
At WrestleMania 42, Oba beating Brock felt like a major moment. It felt like WWE was telling us, “This is the next guy.” Brock losing, leaving his boots and gloves in the ring, and acting like he was done made the moment feel even bigger. It looked like a true passing of the torch. Oba did not just beat a regular wrestler. He beat …The Beast.
That is why Brock coming back and beating Oba clean at Clash in Italy has me stuck in the middle.
Yes, I understand the story. Brock is Brock. He lost, he felt embarrassed, and he came back for revenge. That part makes sense. Also it took a lot for him to beat Oba. Brock had to hit multiple F-5s, and Oba still looked like a monster for surviving as long as he did. So I am not saying Oba looked weak.
But I do feel like Oba looks a little “off” now.
When a young star gets a win that big, you want that momentum to keep growing. You want fans to believe he is the new force in WWE. But when Brock comes back a short time later and gets his win back, it can make the first win feel less special. It almost turns the story into, “Oba got lucky the first time,” even if that is not what WWE meant to do.
That is the danger here IMO
At the same time, I cannot lie. This feud has me interested. It has people talking. Some fans think WWE is building toward a third match. Some fans think Oba should have stayed undefeated against Brock. Others are just happy to see Brock still wrestling. That is what makes this feud work. People care enough to argue about it.
And that is where WWE still has a chance to make this great.
If this is leading to one more match, Oba needs to win the final battle….right? Brock getting one win back is fine if the end goal is to make Oba stronger. But if Brock wins the feud overall, then I think WWE may have missed a chance to truly build a new star.
Brock’s retirement is coming sooner than we think. I do believe that. He may not be done today, but we are closer to the end than the beginning. That is why this story matters. If Brock is going out, using his final run to help build Oba Femi would be the right move.
