There was a picture I saw recently with a quote from Abraham Lincoln that really hit home for me: “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I’ll…

Hey there, I’m Christopher Varner, but most folks just call me Chris. I’ve been on the move between Clayton and Henry counties in Georgia for the past few years. I’m originally from Clayton however, both places hold a special spot in my heart, and I’m torn between deciding which one I want to settle down in.
I graduated from Morrow High School and spent four memorable years in the ROTC program, honing my skills and discipline. Right after high school, I dove headfirst into a career as an EMT and Firefighter, and it’s been an incredible journey. Over the past decade, I’ve dedicated my life to saving others and currently hold the rank of lieutenant. It’s an honor and a privilege to serve my community in this capacity.
In the realm of family, I have a wonderful child named Miles. Being a dad has given me a newfound appreciation for the joys and challenges of parenthood.
When I’m not fighting fires or saving lives, you’ll find me cheering on WWE wrestling matches with unbridled enthusiasm. It’s my guilty pleasure, and it never fails to entertain me.
Now, here’s a quirk about me, I despise golf, but I’m trying my best to cultivate an appreciation for it as I grow older. Perhaps it’s a game I’ll come to love in time.
In my spare moments, I indulge in two passions: working out and staying informed by reading online articles. Oddly enough, while I’m not a fan of traditional books, I’ve found solace in audiobooks. They’re my go-to for diving into captivating stories and expanding my knowledge. Podcasts are also a daily part of my routine, offering a wealth of information and engaging discussions.
Speaking of goals, I aspire to own more real estate, paving the way for a comfortable future. I aim to retire early and, who knows, maybe even venture beyond the borders of my homeland. Additionally, I have a burning desire to make a positive impact in Clayton County, the place I call home. One day, I might even contemplate running for office to effect meaningful change.
So, why did I decide to start a blog? Well, I want to provide valuable insights and reviews on local establishments, including restaurants and bars. I also love engaging in sports debates, so you can expect lively discussions in that arena. Moreover, I’ll be sharing my life experiences, especially those related to my journey as a young firefighter. It’s my way of connecting with others and leaving a lasting imprint.
Throughout my life, I’ve encountered transformative events that shaped me into the person I am today. Joining the fire department was a pivotal moment that ignited my passion for helping others. The birth of my son, Miles, filled my heart with immeasurable love and responsibility. And let’s not forget the time I stumbled upon “Rich Dad Poor Dad” – that audiobook opened my eyes to new perspectives on wealth and financial independence. However, life also threw some curveballs my way as I lost both my stepfather and biological father within a year of each other. These profound losses compelled me to reevaluate my priorities and appreciate the preciousness of every moment.
There’s another layer to my story, I’ve navigated life with a learning disability. It presented challenges, but I refused to let it define me. And while my first year as a firefighter was tough, I overcame the hurdles and emerged stronger than ever.
So, that’s me, Chris Varner…a firefighter, dad, wrestling enthusiast, aspiring golfer, lifelong learner, and someone who strives to make a positive impact. Join me on this incredible journey as we explore life’s adventures together.
