April 15th marks a special day…my son Miles birthday! This year he turns four, and what a journey it has been! From April 15, 2022, at 12:57 am at Northside Hospital when he came into the world, it’s been a wild ride! One I wouldn’t trade for anything!
Now at four, Miles has this gift of making me see the world differently. He points out the little things…planes in the sky, cool cars on the road, “Dad thats a horse” ….things I’d often overlook. He reminds me to pause, breath, and appreciate the moment. I’ve learned from him that joy is often in the smallest details.
Being a dad has changed me not just as a father, but as a person. When he was a baby, it was all diapers and tiny feet. But now, when he asks, “Dad, where are you going?” even if I’m just stepping away, it truly tugs at my heart. That attachment deepens when they can talk, when you see them grow from being so small to a little person with their own thoughts.

Discipline has been my biggest learning curve. You want them happy but you also need to teach them. Sometimes you’re holding back laughter while being stern, and other times you remind yourself, “I did this as a kid too. It’s okay.” But the balance between teaching them and loving them deeply is where growth happens for both of you imo.
As you can see, for Miles birthday we went to Chuck E Cheese. The joy on his face hit me harder then ever. Hearing him say “Dad we having fun!” is all I need. These little moments remind me why being his dad is the greatest gift. God is good man, God is so good.
So heres to you Miles! Happy birthday little man! You’ve made me a better person, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
