The weather in Atlanta right now has me questioning everything.
One day I’m outside in a tank top thinking summer came early. The next day I’m digging for a hoodie like winter said, “Hold on, I ain’t done yet.” That’s just March in Georgia, I get it. But this year? This feels different.
We’ve had days pushing close to 80 degrees, then suddenly dropping back down into the 40s and 50s within a day or two.
That kind of back and forth will mess you up not just mentally, but physically too.
And just when you think you’ve adjusted…
Here comes the real enemy.
Pollen!!!!!!!!!
The Real Atlanta Villain: That Yellow Dust
If you live in Atlanta, you already know what I’m talking about.
You walk outside in the morning, and your car looks like it got spray painted yellow overnight. It’s on your windshield, your porch, your clothes… probably in your soul at this point.
Spring in Atlanta is beautiful, don’t get me wrong. Trees are having sex, flowers are popping, everything looks alive again. But along with that beauty comes pollen levels that can go crazy high, especially from pine trees and oak.
And if you’ve got allergies? You’re in a full blown fight for survival.
Why It Feels Worse This Year
Here’s my theory (and I know I’m not the only one thinking this):
The weather has been so unpredictable that it’s like everything is hitting at once.
- Warm days speed up plant growth
- Cold snaps don’t fully stop it
- Then boom….everything releases pollen at the same time
So now we’re dealing with:
- Wild temperature swings
- Storms rolling in and out
- And a thick layer of pollen on top of it all
That combo is tough.
How I’m Dealing With Atlanta Pollen
I’ve learned the hard way, you can’t ignore pollen season here. So here’s what’s actually been helping me:
1. Wash your car… but don’t get attached
You can wash it today, and tomorrow it’ll look the same. I’ve accepted that. Peace of mind is key.
2. Keep your windows closed (as much as it hurts)
I love fresh air, but not when it’s carrying yellow dust into my house.
3. Shower after being outside
Especially before bed. That pollen will follow you inside and mess with your sleep.
4. Change your air filters
This one is underrated. A clean filter helps keep your house from turning into a pollen storage unit.
5. Allergy meds are your friend
I’m not saying depend on them but if you need them, use them. No need to suffer for no reason. I specifically use Clariten.
Welcome to Spring in Atlanta……
At the end of the day, this is just part of living here.
The weather might be confusing. The pollen might be disrespectful. But this is also the time of year when Atlanta starts to feel alive again.
So yeah, I’m going to complain about it…But I’m also going to deal with it. Because if you can survive Atlanta weather and pollen season…You can handle just about anything lol
Wait…did someone just say Beach?
