I’ve got some pretty cool news no one is talking about….Gmail now lets you change your email address without having to create a whole new account. And guess what? I’ve actually done it. I switched from my old “Chriscentral@gmail.com” to my new “Varnervibes@gmail.com” and I didn’t lose anything in the process.
Why would you want to do this? Well, if you’ve had an email since you were a teenager and it sounds a bit hmm let’s just say “out of place” lol …now you can finally update it to something that fits your life today. Maybe you’ve got a personal brand, or you just want something more professional. Honestly, it feels refreshing to ditch the old and step into something that coincides with my projects.
Now, don’t get me wrong there are a couple of minor drawbacks, if you wanna call it that. You can only change it once a year, and some apps might not recognize the new address right away. But honestly for me that’s a small price to pay for an email that feels like it fits.
I think this is a glimpse of the future. Who wouldn’t want the freedom to update their email without starting over? At the moment Gmail is the only one doing it that im aware of but maybe others will jump on board too? So if you’ve ever wished you could change yours on Gmail, now’s the time to think about it. I made the jump, and I’m loving it.
