Listen, if you’re going to drive for Uber or Lyft, then be the best damn driver you can be. I’m not saying you have to turn your car into a limousine, but at least give people the basics….a clean ride, a decent smell, and some respect for their ears.

Cleanliness Is King

Let’s start with the big one…………..cleanliness. Nothing kills the vibe faster than hopping into a car that smells like last night’s pizza mixed with gym locker rooms. I’ve been in some rides that made me want to roll the window down in the middle of winter. Don’t be that driver. Wipe down the seats, vacuum the floor, and maybe toss in an air freshener. Key word here is toss in. Don’t turn your car into a perfume bomb. A nice, light refresh works wonders.

Music Matters (More Than You Think)

Now about the music. No one wants to feel like they’re in a nightclub at 8 a.m. heading to work. Keep it simple….soft background music, not too loud, not too low. If your passenger looks like they’re vibing, cool. If they look annoyed, maybe turn it down a notch. Bonus points if you just ask: “Hey, is the volume good?” It takes two seconds and makes people feel like you actually care.

Heat and AC Aren’t Optional

This should go without saying, but if your heater or AC doesn’t work, please don’t do rideshare. No one should have to sweat through a summer trip or freeze during a winter ride. Comfort is part of service.

Talk Less, But Ask More

And let’s clear this up you don’t have to talk the entire ride to give good service. Not everyone wants to spill their life story on the way to Target. A simple, “You doing okay?” or “If the music’s too loud, let me know,” is all it takes. That’s customer service without being pushy.

Tips Don’t Just Happen

Drivers sometimes get mad when tips don’t roll in. But here’s the truth people tip when they feel good about the ride. If your car is gross, music is blasting, and the air smells like a mix of fries and regret, don’t expect five stars and extra cash. On the flip side, clean car, chill vibe, respectful driver? Boom…better tips and better reviews

Final Thoughts

Being a great Uber or Lyft driver isn’t rocket science. It’s the little things cleanliness, comfort, and basic manners that separate the five star drivers from the one star “never again” rides. NOOO it does NOT cost much so I do not want to hear that excuse! Keep it simple, keep it clean, and watch those ratings (and tips) climb.
