So, let me walk you through my first ever tattoo experience. It’s a bit of a ride, so buckle up!

The Big Idea: Turning 30 to 31 With a Roar

I always wanted to get a tattoo before I hit 31, and guess what? I did it! I chose a lion because I’m a Leo, but not just any lion…my own version of a lion. It symbolizes being alive each year, like “undefeated” because I’ve made it to 31 and I’m still here, still winning at life.

The Numbing Cream Fiasco

Now, here’s where it gets funny. I’m not exactly a pain enthusiast, so I got this numbing cream called Nupharmisto. People said, “Oh, just use this cream and you’ll be fine.” Yeah, that was a joke. It didn’t do a thing. We waited 30 minutes, hoping it’d kick in, but when that needle started, let’s just say I felt everything. Lesson learned: sometimes the numbing cream is just a placebo.

The Tattoo Flu and the Itch That Followed

So, I get the tattoo on my chest, yes, the chest, not the best spot for a first timer but I had my reasons. It hurt like crazy, and then when I got home, I started feeling this thing people call “tattoo flu.” It’s basically feeling a bit sick from the pain and the whole process. Don’t freak out… It passed in about an hour, but it was a wild ride.

And then came the itching. Oh man, around day five or six, the itch was unreal. You want to scratch so badly, but you can’t. I used Aquaphor…yes, the baby kind and that actually helped more than the fancy tattoo lotions. Hustle Butter tattoo lotion didn’t do much for me, but Aquaphor was a lifesaver. The only reason I said the baby kind if because thats all I had at the time. You can also use the adult regular Aquaphor.

Final Thoughts and Will I Do It Again?

In the end, after about a month, it healed up great. I love how it looks, and it’s my personal badge of being 31 and undefeated. Will I get another tattoo? Right now, I’m saying no but never say never. Just do your research, find a good artist, and know that it’s going to be a bit of a journey. But in the end, it’s pretty worth it.
