I just saw the new Jurassic Park movie, and I’ve got to be real with you, it was just okay. Not terrible, not amazing, just somewhere in the middle. I’d give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. If you’re a big fan of dinosaurs and the classic feel of the original movies, you’ll probably still have a good time, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
Let me start with what I liked. The music. Man, those familiar Jurassic Park tunes hit hard. The second I heard that theme song, it took me back to being a kid, wide eyed in front of the TV. That alone gave me some serious comfort vibes. It’s one of those things that never gets old, and honestly, it made the movie more enjoyable.
Now compared to the last movie in the franchise, this one was definitely better. The pacing felt smoother, and the dinosaurs had more exciting scenes. Some online reviews agree with me. I saw one that said, “It’s a step up from the last one, with better action and improved visual effects.” I’d say that’s a fair way to put it.
But here’s where the movie dropped the ball for me…it felt like something was missing. I don’t know if it was rushed or just poorly explained, but certain plot points didn’t make sense or came out of nowhere. You ever watch a movie and feel like there’s a scene that should’ve been there but wasn’t? That’s what I felt here. A few parts needed more backstory or clearer reasons why things were happening.
The characters were fine, but I didn’t feel super connected to any of them. The acting was decent, but again, nothing really stood out. It was like the movie had all the right pieces, but didn’t take the time to really build them into something great.
So, should you watch it? If you’re a fan of the series, I’d say yeah, go ahead. You’ll enjoy the nostalgia, the music, and the dino action. Just go in with average expectations. Don’t expect to be blown away. If you’re on the fence, maybe wait until it hits streaming services. It’s not a must see in theaters unless you’re a hardcore Jurassic fan.
Overall, I don’t regret watching it. I had fun, I smiled at the music, and I appreciated the throwbacks. But when the credits rolled, I didn’t feel like I had just seen something amazing. I just thought, “Yeah, that was alright.”
Final Score: 3.5 out of 5 stars
