There’s something in the air right now, and I can’t shake it. Maybe you’ve felt it too. It’s that feeling that something’s off …. like we’re all waiting for the next big move but we don’t know if it’s going to help or hurt.

I’ve been talking with friends from all sides… Republicans, Democrats, and people who try to stay out of politics completely and oddly enough, we’re all saying the same thing.. We’re not sure whats going to happen next

When Joe Biden was president, I had my thoughts. In some ways, it felt like the country was asleep at the wheel. But I also hoped, like many people, that things would improve with a new president in office. Whether it had been Kamala or Trump. I just wanted change for the better. Fast forward to now, and I’m paying real close attention, especially with the talk around tariffs.

So what are tariffs, anyway? They’re taxes on goods we bring in from other countries. The idea is to make foreign products more expensive, which should push people to buy American made goods. Sounds good on paper. But in reality, tariffs often mean higher prices for all of us. If a business has to pay more to get parts or materials, guess what? That cost comes down to regular folks like you and me. However, maybe it will produce more American jobs? Maybe we will be more self reliant? Hmm is it a good bet…are we ready to make that bet?

Trump is once again making big moves with tariffs. He’s talking about putting massive taxes/tariffs up to 60% on goods from China. One day it sounds like it’s full steam ahead, then suddenly we hear about a 90 day pause on most tariffs, except for a few countries. It’s confusing, and I think that’s where a lot of the anxiety is coming from.

But here’s where I want to be fair…maybe Trump is cooking something up behind the scenes. Maybe this is part of a bigger strategy we don’t fully understand yet. He’s always had a unique way of doing things, and sometimes his moves look chaotic until the dust settles. I’m not here to bash anyone. If he’s got a real plan to bring jobs back and strengthen the economy, I’d love to see it work.

Still… people are on edge. We’ve been through a lot pandemic, inflation, interest rates climbing, rent through the roof, groceries costing more than ever. When the policies start changing this fast, especially around something as big as tariffs, it makes people nervous. Even some Republican lawmakers are saying, “Hold on, maybe the president shouldn’t be the only one making these decisions.”

I haven’t hit the panic button yet, but I’m definitely hovering over it. Because while I’m not panicking… I’m sure as hell not comfortable either. I think a lot of us uncomfortable. We’re not asking for miracles we just want clear leadership and a steady plan.
