Depending on where you are, spring is either teasing us or already making its grand entrance. The official first day of spring is March 21st, but let’s be honest after two rare snow days in Atlanta, we’re all done with winter. It’s time for sunshine, warmer days, and finally stepping outside without feeling like we’re in a survival movie.
Something about this spring just feels extra awesome. Maybe it’s the idea of finally shaking off the winter blues or the fact that I’m officially planning a trip to the beach (no, I don’t need to get in the water…I just need to hear those waves!!!!! ). Whos coming with me!?
Things You Can Finally Do Now That Winter is Packing Its Bags
- Enjoy the Outdoors Without Freezing Your Face Off – Take a hike, go for a picnic, or just sit outside and soak up the sun. Bonus points if you find a good patio with cheap margaritas. (let me know…)
- Spring Festivals and Farmers’ Markets – Now’s the time when food trucks, live music, and fresh produce take over the city.
- Dust Off the Grill – Barbecue season is back! Fire up the grill, throw on some burgers, and invite friends over. Because nothing says spring like standing outside in flip flops pretending it’s already summer.
- Sports, Sports, and More Sports – Whether you’re into baseball, soccer, or just playing a casual game of football, spring is the season for moving again. And for those who prefer to be spectators, March Madness is in full swing, so you can still enjoy the energy without actually running.
- Road Trips and Weekend Getaways – A full-blown vacation might not be in the budget (thanks, economy), but a quick drive to a nearby lake, mountain, or small town can be just what you need.
Affordable Ways to Have Fun This Spring
We all know the cost of living is out here acting like it’s in a competition to break records. But that doesn’t mean fun is canceled! Here are some budget friendly ways I came up with to enjoy the season:
- Park Days & DIY Picnics – Instead of paying for an overpriced restaurant, grab some snacks, a blanket, and enjoy a nice afternoon outside.
- Free Outdoor Concerts & Events – Many cities host spring festivals with free music, food samples, and activities. Google is your friend, find what’s happening in your area.
- Beach Trip Without the Extra Costs – If you’re like me and just love the sound of the ocean, you don’t need to book a fancy resort. Find a beach, bring your own snacks, and enjoy the view.
- Fishing – I mean come on you can’t go wrong with fishing!
- Hiking & Exploring Nature – Walking is free. Nature is free. Plus, you get some exercise and fresh air while pretending you’re an outdoorsy person.
Get Ready to Bloom!
Spring isn’t just about better weather it’s a whole mood. It’s about shaking off the winter sluggishness, getting outside, and making memories without breaking the bank. So whether you’re planning a big vacation or just making the most of your weekends, take advantage of this season. And if you need me, I’ll be at the beach letting the waves do their thing while I sit there happy that I’m not shivering for once.
