Today, I’m writing with a heavy heart. The wrestling world has lost one of its wildest legends, my man Sabu. If you grew up watching hardcore wrestling like I did, you know exactly who I’m talking about. Sabu wasn’t just a wrestler; he was a daredevil, a man who gave everything to entertain the fans, even if it meant breaking his body in the process.

Sabu, whose real name was Terry Brunk, was born into wrestling. He was trained by his uncle, The Original Sheik, one of the most famous and feared wrestlers of the old school era. It’s no surprise that Sabu took that hardcore style and turned it up to a whole new level. Chairs, tables, barbed wire you name it, Sabu used it. And the craziest part? He wasn’t doing it for show. He truly believed in pushing himself to the limit every single time he stepped into the ring.

If you watched ECW back in the day, Sabu was a big reason why it became the wild, anything goes brand we all loved. He wasn’t much for talking on the mic, but when that bell rang he let his actions do all the talking. He’d jump through tables, wrap himself in barbed wire, and perform high flying moves that made you hold your breath. That’s just who he was….a man willing to sacrifice everything for the love of wrestling fans.

I remember sitting on the edge of my seat as a kid, watching Sabu put his body through things I couldn’t even imagine trying. And as wild as it seemed there was something inspiring about his heart and his toughness. He wasn’t the biggest guy in the ring, but no one could ever question his courage.

Even after ECW shut down, Sabu continued wrestling all over the world. From WWE to TNA and countless independent shows, he kept bringing that same wild style to every arena he stepped in. He battled through injuries, scars, and hardships, but he always kept going. That’s what made him a true legend.

It’s tough knowing he’s gone now. But if there’s one thing we can all take from Sabu’s life, it’s this give life everything you’ve got. Chase your passions. Be fearless. And no matter how hard things get, keep pushing through.

Rest easy, Sabu. Thank you for the memories, the wild matches, and for reminding us what it means to be truly hardcore. You’ll never be forgotten.
