Lately there’s been a lot of talk about Matt Ryan coming back to the Atlanta Falcons. Not as a player, but in the front office. From what I’ve seen, the team has been talking with him about taking on a real role behind the scenes. Nothing is locked in yet but it sounds serious.
As a Falcons fan, I’ll be honest..I like the idea. I mean what do we have to lose at this point lol
Matt Ryan is more than just “a former quarterback.” He’s one of the few QBs in Falcons history who actually took us to the Super Bowl. That doesn’t happen by accident. You don’t lead a team that far unless you understand football, pressure, leadership, and how to work with people. A lot of folks seem to forget that when they talk about him.
Some fans worry because being a great player doesn’t always mean someone will be great in the front office. And yeah, that’s true sometimes. But Matt Ryan has always been known as a smart guy who studies the game. He wasn’t the loudest person in the room but he was steady. He led by example. I think that matters a lot when you move into a leadership role off the field.
Right now, the Falcons need vision. We’ve had some rough seasons. Fans are frustrated. The team feels like it’s been stuck in neutral. Bringing back someone who knows the city, the fans, and the culture could help steady the ship. Ryan also knows what a winning team looks like. He lived it.
I’m not saying he should walk in and run everything on day one. But having his voice in the room? I’m all for it.
And let’s be real people love to complain. When Matt was here, some folks blamed him for everything. Now that he’s gone, those same people talk about how they miss him. That’s just how fans are sometimes. But I remember the good years. I remember the playoff runs. I remember the Super Bowl trip. You can’t erase that.
If he does join the front office, I hope fans give him a fair shot. Don’t expect overnight magic. Don’t expect the team to change in one week. But do expect someone who cares about the Falcons. Someone who wore that uniform with pride. Someone who knows what it feels like to carry this team on his back.
