You know, growing up, Halloween always felt like a kids’ holiday to me. It was all about the little ones running around the neighborhood, yelling “trick or treat,” and collecting candy like it was treasure. I remember thinking it was all for kids and maybe teens, but definitely not for adults.

But fast forward to now, and I have my own son. And let me tell you, seeing Halloween through a parent’s eyes is a whole new ballgame. Suddenly, it’s not just about the candy it’s about the fun and the memories. Sure we used to roam the neighborhood streets back then, knocking on doors, and it felt like a mini adventure. These days, a lot of folks are a bit more cautious and you see things like more trunk or treats popping up. I tried a trunk or treat a couple of years ago and honestly, it was a blast. It’s a safe, fun way to get candy and there’s all sorts of entertainment for the kids. It’s different but it’s a good kind of different.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized Halloween isn’t just for kids. It’s actually pretty cool to see adults of all ages getting in on the fun. They put on costumes, have contests, play games, and just enjoy being someone else for a night. Just remember, some folks might be a little too good at pretending…. so keep an eye out…..there are always a few real characters out there LOL. After what ive dealt with lately you get what I mean IYKYK…..

All jokes aside, Halloween has really grown on me over the years. It’s still not dethroning Christmas as my favorite holiday, but it’s definitely inching up there. There’s just something about the cool weather, the smiles, and the community fun that makes it special. And hey after being cooped up during COVID many years ago, it’s nice to just get out and do stuff. I don’t ever forget those COVID pandemic times.

So, whether you’re trick or treating the old school way or hitting up a trunk or treat, stay safe and have a blast. And just a little safety note: always check your candy, stick with the crowd, and to my drivers SLOW DOWN.

….oh, and P.S. that photo you’re seeing? Yeah, that’s totally not my costume this year… or is it? 😉
