Let me just dive right in and say, listening to Stephen A. Smith lately has been a breath of fresh air. Now, I’m not here to tell you whether he’s a Republican or a Democrat..honestly, the man seems to call it like he sees it, and that’s exactly what we need right now.
Recently, he’s been talking about the United States government shutdown and how everyday Americans are just fed up. And I mean, really fed up. You’ve got folks who aren’t getting paid while politicians are still collecting their checks, and that’s just crazy. Stephen A. even mentioned this air traffic controller who had to start driving for DoorDash just to make ends meet. And let me tell you, that’s not some distant news headline. I actually met someone at a bar recently who works for the government and literally isn’t getting paid right now. It’s one thing to hear it on TV it’s another to see it in real life.
Stephen A. got fired up about this and honestly, I’m right there with him. He’s out there saying what a lot of us are thinking it doesn’t matter which side of the aisle you’re on, both sides are messing up, and regular people are paying the price. He even acknowledged that sure, folks went after Trump back in the day, and now the same sort of political game is happening again with Trump going after them. At the end of the day we need unity, we’ve got to come together rather than split apart. I’m not really sure if we have that leadership anywhere right now. Hmm….maybe it can be Mr. Smith
Now, a little background on Stephen A. Smith he’s a sports commentator, a big personality on ESPN, and now he’s dipping his toes into politics. There is even some buzz about him maybe running for president one day. I’ll tell you what, he’s growing on me. He is confident, he makes sense, and he’s not afraid to speak up.
So that’s my take. It’s frustrating, it’s a tough time, and it feels different this time around. But voices like his? We could use more of that. Because at the end of the day, we need people who actually care that everyday Americans are struggling while the folks in charge are still getting their paychecks.
