Hey everyone, I just came across a pretty big heads up from Google, and I think we all need to take a moment to talk about it. Basically, Google’s warning 1.8 billion users yep, that’s a lot of us…about a new wave of AI driven scams called “indirect prompt injections.”
Now, in plain terms, that means hackers are getting super creative with AI tools to trick people into giving up their info. Think about it AI can mimic voices, faces, and even create super convincing fake messages. It’s a wild world where you can’t just trust every link or email that pops up.
So what can we do? Well, first off, don’t click on random links or open weird attachments. If you get something that looks fishy, trust your gut and double check before you click. Enable two factor authentication if you haven’t already, it’s like adding a double lock on your door. As annoying as it may be lets not make it easy for these assholes.
And here’s a bigger thought.. maybe it’s time to rethink how we store our most important info. In a world where AI is making it easier for scammers, maybe going a little “old school” isn’t such a bad idea. Keep some things offline, print out those really precious photos, and just be cautious about what you share digitally. These people are getting smarter, and now they’ve got AI on their side, so we’ve got to get smarter too.
In the end, Google sending out a warning like this is a big deal. It’s a reminder to stay alert, keep learning, and protect ourselves in this fast changing digital world. If you see something say something so we are all staying protected.
