The Atlanta Falcons are finally showing signs of finding their stride, and fans like me are feeling hopeful. The recent nail biter against the Saints, where Younghoe Koo hit a clutch 58 yard field goal, is a prime example of how far this team has come. We’ve seen glimpses of greatness, especially from our defense and special teams. KhaDarel Hodge’s fumble recovery and Troy Andersen’s pick six showed just how dangerous we can be in creating opportunities.

But, as any Falcons fan will tell you, there are still some nagging concerns that we can’t overlook. Let’s start with the quarterback situation. Our QB has had some moments of brilliance but also struggles to find consistent traction. It’s crucial for the offense to create more dynamic plays, especially when the defense is doing so much to keep us in the game. The offense needs to step up and start putting more points on the board themselves.

Another issue that’s becoming more apparent is the penalties. Come on coach! The Falcons gave up 76 yards in penalties this week alone. In games as close as this one, every flag hurts, and unnecessary penalties are a recipe for disaster. We need to clean this up, or it could end up costing us in bigger games down the road.

Time management was another thorn in the side during the Saints game. With just over a minute left, and the Saints managing to sneak in a late touchdown, it became clear that we could have done a better job controlling the clock when we had the ball or maybe that was the intention? I’m not entirely sure..hmm

The Falcons are growing. Each week, we seem to be learning and getting stronger. The defense is proving it can hold up against tough offenses, and the special teams continue to deliver. But the question remains…will this growth be enough to carry us deep into the season? With more NFC South rivals on the horizon, like Tampa Bay next week, we’ll need to see improvements in our offensive consistency in my opinion.

In short, while there are reasons to celebrate, we can’t get too comfortable just yet. There’s still work to be done, and if we want to keep this momentum going, the Falcons have to shore up their weaknesses QUICK. But as of now, I’m a happy camper, and it feels like we’re finally on the right path….I think…
